The forest pulses lightly

As the sun hides its face in the clouds,

Tagging its luminous partner to take over the darkening sky.

 

The trees, standing at attention, begin to relax,

Their boughs softening their stance,

Opening their mossy arms to embrace the coming visitor.

 

Frogs sing their throaty songs,

As ripples tap out time,

Dancing in the water, paving a slippery path for spectral steps.

 

And she is there,

Pale flesh like a bolt of lightning in the darkness,

Emerald eyes glowing in the moonlight.

 

The forest bends to her will, its heartbeat syncing to hers.

With one touch, the ground sparks with flecks of orange and red

Colors mixing on an ivory palette to paint a new scene.

 

She begins the dance, hands lifted to the sky,

Reaching to grasp her glowing goddess.

Raised from the ground, her soul is suspended in this safe space.

 

And, when one lonely tear falls,

Ghostly hands grasp hers as she faintly floats.

Forest spirits join her dance to remind her she will never be alone.
